I was thinking the same about the music (being an alt take) but I don't remember them sounding like that on my Special Edition soundtrack, so i'm guessing it's a performance by another orchestra?

Looks great, btw!

Well, it was a million times better than the crap me and my friend put together! Topping that was easy! But I saw 2 others and this kicks their asses, too!

I'm gonna pop in my SE soundtrack & listen to the alt takes. I can't stand not knowing for sure! :P

EDIT: Just checked those 4 extra ones out. I knew my ears didn't deceive me. It's not any of those alternate ANH takes. So now I have to wonder what it was. Was I correct in guessing that it's another orchestra's performance of the theme?

Thanks for the compliments guys...

As for the music its not the SE version...it is probably one of the older mixes. I don't remember where I got that version from but it doesn't match up with my SE soundtracks.

The whole thing was timed with TPM and AOTC's crawls so that the music cues would be right on...I timed everything to match right up as best as I could so the speed should be exactly the same.

I think that version is off of the Varese Sarabande "The Star Wars Trilogy" release that was performed by the Utah Symphony Orchestra under Varujan Kojian.

EDIT: "On second thought, maybe not."

Nice. Widescreen rules because the words don't scroll off the left and right of the screen. :)

Seems convenient that Knoll posted that detailed description on the OS.
Maybe you just did the work for him? :meatwad:

well done, though I'm willing to bet 'General Grievous' and maybe 'Galactic Senate' will be fully capitalized.

Yeah there are a few tutorials out there. The one for AE 5.5 and up or AE 5 PB are the ones you want. The tutorial just gave me a kind of direction to go in. There's one that suggests you make it a 3d layer and you add an extra camera...that's the one you want...

In other news check my new avatar...

Very nicely done man. I still think the crawl goes a tad too fast, but good form nonetheless. :heavymetal:

foxbat, great work indeed. However, seeing it in its finished form only reinforces my earlier opinion: It's a terribly written crawl.

It doesn't flow at all. All the other opening crawls seem more fluid and melodically written. I really hope that once the movie is screened, the crawl is rewritten, because it's the nature of the text which makes it miss musical beats, not the way my San Diego friend assmebled it.

I like the crawl and even the "War!" part. However, I do agree that the first paragraph could use a re-write. "There are heroes on both sides. Evil is everywhere" doesn't flow very well.

Well even though I don't think its too fast (its timed to go with the others plus the others seem fast to me when viewing it in such a small format) I'm making a slowed down, slightly modified version right now to see if it makes much difference.

Does anyone know what the Buck Rogers film serial crawls say? It might be similar in form.

I actually do like the new version a little bit better myself. There are still a few things in my mind that could be slightly improved but that's the last version I'm doing. My poor computer has been overworked the past couple of days. When I get my new G5 doing stuff like this won't take nearly as long so I wouldn't have a problem re-rendering...

Holy crap, that gave me chills. The only thing it's missing is a pan either up or down just before the fadeout.

Well, I couldn't resist doing one up myself. Though it might not be much better foxbatkllr's.

I added in the Fox and LFL logos for the full effect. So behold the first 111 seconds of Revenge of the Sith!

is a really good version of the fully animated crawl. It starts earlier than the other ones I have seen and it even pans down at the end.
