Anyone catch how much the sound file sounds exactly like the teaser trailer? This has to be more credible evidance that JEJ actually does the voice. They wouldn't have him do a figure and NOT the movie.

The pics are great, I agree the last one with the Emperor is outstanding.

Unfortunately that sounds like it was processed by an intern. JEJ's voice hasn't changed THAT much, has it?

I don't know where the whole bullshit came about with the speculation that it was Hayden's voice that was morphed into sounding like JEJ, but it's the stupid's thing I have ever heard.

JEJ is getting up there in age and I think it's more the sound effect than his voice that sounds "off"

It's my opinion that if JEJ is going to do a fresh line of dialogue for a new figure, then it concrete's things more that he will be doing the voice for the movie.

If it were me, I sure as hell wouldn't do the figure and not the movie.

If I remember correctly in a interview with JEJ he stated that he wasnt offically asked to do the voicework at the time, but he knew that they would ask him eventually.

He said it wouldnt be until almost the end of production that he would do the voiceover anyway even if they did sign him to do it. The voicework that he would have to do might consist of 1-2 days max. Especially since Vader will not much screen time.

Besides I cannot see him turning down the part.

The interview I was referring to was done in late 2003 or early 2004, so his services were really not needed at that point in production.

Vader's Voice

Postby Slider » January 25th 2005 2:03 pm

I'm pretty sure that what Lucas has done is sythesize both JEJ's voice and HC's to create something new and transitional. When I watched the teaser trailer, I immediately thought of the scene in Peter Jackson' Two Towers movie where Gandalf reappeared. Ian McKennan's voice was merged with Christopher Lee's for the same effect.

You guys are on crack. It's friggin' James Earl Jones. In the trailer, it sounds like James Earl Jones. I don't hear anyone else.

It IS Hayden in the trailer, wisenheimer.

The dialogue in the teaser is lifted from a different part of the movie, where Anakin is not in the Vader suit. Obviously, it wouldn't make much sense to have Hayden's voice and then armored Vader appear, so they tweaked Hayden's line to make it sound as Vader-ish as possible.

Well... I have no doubts in Spoillerific, so if it was Hayden, it was Hayden....

But I think is was stupid for them to use Hayden to begin with.....but I could understand since deadlines usually dictate descisions like this.

I still think it's a bad idea if they don't use JEJ, but it now seems plausable to do so... ugh.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

I agree - if they "tweaked" Hayden's voice, they tweaked it with Jones's voice. Could be a combination, but Jones is definitely in there.

The word is that "the line" was said by Hayden elsewhere, therefore it must be him.

WHAT IS THE LINE??

"Yes, master."

Yeah, JEJ has never recorded that shit before.

All I'm saying is, if that's not JEJ but is in fact HC, then there's reason to doubt the Osama tapes even more than I already do.

Fatboy Roberts wrote:Yeah.. See, I trust Riffic, and I know he has access to press stuff, pub photos, and apparently some novelization, or script stuff. But does he know for a FACT that they simply used a Hayden line, or is he assuming that because the line pops up earlier in the movie, that it's gotta be Hayden's voice being altered (which I still maintain is damn near impossible to bridge the gap between the tone and timbre of Christensen to Jones via electronic manipulation)

Basically, did you hear or witness the original line before it was altered, or are you just guessing based on what you've read?

I have seen the scene it is from. The dialogue used in the trailer is from the scene where Anakain is re-named Darth Vader. In the context of the actual scene, Sidious telling Vader to "rise" is asking him to stand up from on bended knee, bowing before his new master.

I'm not saying they couldn't have mixed in some JEJ, but if that were so, why wouldn't they just have him deliver the whole line? And if that's what were so, why do you think there was the whole debate on why the pronounciation sounded un-like JEJ? Because they just tweaked the Hayden line. Who knows why... probably because using that dialogue in the trailer was an idea they had and didn't want to bother bringing JEJ in to record 2 words. In any case, I assure you, come May 19th you will hear Hayden speak the very line in question. And I'm sure JEJ will be the voice of Vader in the end of the film.

Tony,

Maybe the riiiiissse Palpatine is referring to while Anakin's strapped to the table isn't standing. After all, Anakin has been one horny dude in the prequels.

Palpatine looks like he's thinking that Anakin needs a haircut. And Anakin has just spotted a rabbit.

Jedis love rabbits.

I'm very curious to learn the real story behind this 'yes, master' line. Simply because, if it is a modified Hayden line, it's bloody well done. I would have thought that was very difficult to do without it ending up sounding like a Daft Punk track. If it is Hayden's, I hope they do a little piece on it on the dvd.

Dogg.

Wouldn't it be something if Skywalker Sound has been able to make a perfect voice changer for this one? I would still like JEJ to be the voice but it would be quite a feat to produce that voice without JEJ.
Anyone else kind of annoyed at how he sounds to wimpy saying "The dark side of the force is STRONG with you." Seems like he is too happy to say "STRONG with you."
Meh. Still badass.

Okay, so yeah, I'm grasping at straws, cuz I'm an asshole, but after the latest pic where Obi Wan watches a holo of Palpatine and Skywalker, Carl Cunningham, who has spent time on set and is pretty close to production, said the line in the trailer DOES NOT come from that scene--which is precisely what Riffic has been telling us.

Hope glimmers. ;)

Not from the hologram scene?

Well here's some speculation. What if if we the audience, see Sidious name Vader first in their own scene together, and then see the Obi hologram scene later?

Maybe that's an idea?

"Not from the hologram scene?"

Carl is saying the one Vader line is not from the hologram scene. The line is quite generic so it can easily be from suited Vader later in the movie.

All Spoileriffic said was that the line was from a scene where Anakin was rising from bended knee. I didn't see where he said it was from the hologram shot, but I might not have seen that post. My guess is anakin bows a few times in the film to Palpatine.

How many different Vader in suit scenes will there be to allow this line to be repeated?

It'll be in the film once.

The dialogue in the trailer is not from the hologram scene, it is from the actual scene in the movie where it takes place (after Mace's death).

Are you saying the "Yes, master" line itself is from the scene where Anakin bows before Sidious (that Obi Wan later views as a hologram)?

Sorry, I am hopelessly confused now.

Regarding the "Yes, master" line we hear in the trailer, what scene do you think that is from?

So the hologram scene (with Obi-Wan viewing the hologram) is not seen earlier by the audience (as a non hologram scene)?

He's saying that Anakin is dubbed "Lord Vader" right (or soon) after he kills Mace. This is where "Lord Vader" "Yes, Master?" "Riiiiiiise" is spoken.

I'm guessing the hologram scene in the picture comes from a point where Sidious is communicating with Grievous, and Anakin enters probably upon return from the temple massacare.
