Suddenly, in Yoda's hand, a new creation is born from the Jedi that had secretly bonded themselves together over the last millenia - a blade of light

is this supposed to be a metaphor for a lightsaber ?!? - sorry im a little slow today.

nice line from yoda about how short sidious reign would be.

It almost sounds like Yoda makes a lightsaber just with his hand. That's not what you meant, is it Tern?

According to Tern it is just Yoda's Lightsaber, with the weight of the force behind him because the Dark Side was revealed....

It's Yoda's saber.

Folks, its a simple notion.

Yoda now has the weight of the Force behind him, since the Dark Side has revealed itself.

Guys, don't complicate this.

I post what I get - not what I interpret. Okey day?

A bit more from Ternian:
No clone, go get the last Ternian report with Yoda fighting in the Holding room, pop this in after Yoda gets zapped.

It isn't out of context. Yoda and Sidious are fighting for the rule of the galaxy - Yoda with all the power of the Jedi who have died to protect the Galaxy, and Sidious with the Sith.

OK. Ternian just posted it all in order:

Yoda walks down a long hallway that leads to the entrance of a room called the "Holding Office of the Supreme Chancellor." Two Imperial Guards block the room. As Yoda approaches lightning shoots from the hands of the Emperor. Yoda makes a subtle gesture and deflects the lightning; shocking the Imperial Guards into unconciousness.

"Your time is over! The Sith rule the galaxy! Now and forever!" says Sidious.

Suddenly, in Yoda's hand, a new creation is born from the Jedi that had secretly bonded themselves together over the last millenia - a blade of light.

"At an end your rule is, and not short enough it was, I must say," replies Yoda.

Then, from a hidden place within his robe, Sidious pulls back the cloth and a small weapon falls into his hand.

When the blades meet, it is more than Yoda against Palpatine, more the millennia of Sith against the legions of Jedi; it is the expression of the fundamental conflict of the universe itself.

Light against dark.

With speed and veracity it moves closer to the huge Chancellor's Pod that occupies the middle of the room until the Jedi and the Sith are upon its great foundations. Suddenly, the pod begins to rise as the two combatants battle it out...

The Chancellor's podium continues to rise into the vast empty space of the Senate arena. In the middle of the Senate, bolts of lightning flash from the pod. Suddenly, delegation pods free themselves of the curving walls and slam throughout the chamber - some by the use of the Force, others by the control panels.

Sidious jumps onto one of the flying pods. Yoda goes to follow but is hit by a bolt of lightening and falls. Sidious, exhausted, looks down into the debris below, but Yoda is not to be seen.

Immediately, Sidious calls his Clone Intelligence and the Senate Building is stormed by his Imperial Army.

It's gotta be a lightsaber, but the wording is a little wierd. It does put the whole cataclismic event more in perspective. Even George Lucas apparently said it was the most important fight in all of Star Wars. If Yoda had won and killed Palpatine, everything would have been much much different.

You can cut the whole Yoda drawing his saber paragraph and the last paragraph out of the spoiler and basically end up with the new info: some cool lines.

Perfectly understood by boba_fett_protector:

Allow me to help you with this interpretation:

"Suddenly, in Yoda's hand, a new creation is born from the Jedi that had secretly bonded themselves together over the last millennia - a blade of light."

Before this, the lightsaber was just a jedi's weapon... but now, in the hands of Yoda - it's real purpose is shown. The weapon has become much more, it is now a beacon of hope - it embodies the Light side of the force. In this very moment, all of the force is with Yoda. His fallen friends, old jedi before his time... Yoda is "in the zone" as far as you're concerned.

"When the blades meet, it is more than Yoda against Palpatine, more the millennia of Sith against the legions of Jedi; it is the expression of the fundamental conflict of the universe itself.

Light against dark."

The lightest of Light... versus the darkest of dark... how can this be confusing? What the author is trying to say is this is much more than just a lightsaber battle - it IS the force. It is the complete essence of Star Wars.

I think that was already self-evident. But yeah...

I guess Williams scored the music for this duel as well today?

Agreed, that was goofy writing. We get it - good v.s. evil. The lightsaber thing might've been a nice thought, except the Sith use lightsabers too, so, um, yeah.

Anyway, it's interesting that throughout the entire series, the state of the Republic mirrors Anakin's internal state. Here at the end it's seemingly reversed - Yoda doesn't beat Sidious, but Obi-Wan does beat Anakin. A little thematic flip to show that Anakin's rise is also his fall. Kinda neat.

This report was for those who were asking about the second saber - no more, no less.

This report was literally posted almost verbatim, within the same hour we received it. It was put up in response to the many queries on Sidious's saber getting smashed in half and how he got a second one.

Here is a new edited version:

Suddenly in Yoda's hand, a new creation is born. From the Jedi that had secretly bonded themselves together over the last millenia - a blade of light is formed.

The original vesion:

"Suddenly, in Yoda's hand, a new creation is born from the Jedi that had secretly bonded themselves together over the last millennia - a blade of light."

Personally it comes off to me as a ancestoral - religious thing, like Shintoism or in some Native American religions. With some heavy force ghost firepower backing him up, Yoda ignites a newly created saber against Sidious.

Exactly. Also, the writing is an attempt at a literary allusion or symbolism. Not very good writing, but that's what it is.

Can't wait for May, when the TF.N losers start saying "Where was that new weapon Yoda was supposed to have? WAHHHHHH!"

Fatboy Roberts wrote:That was overwrought, crappy writing. Hopefully it's not verbatim from the novel.

Reading the full version, it doesn't sound like it either comes straight from a novel, nor from Stover's style of writing. The perspective of the action shifts part-way through the description, which leads me to think that more there are direct grabs from the books mixed into an overall description (especially as the movement is too abridged), or it's all summarised text.

It still sounds like Yoda's conjuring a new kind of lightsaber blade from his hand, instead of a regular one from a mechanism. But I wasn't among those to whom this piece was targeted, so I'll shut up now. :)

For all it's fancy wording, that's NOT going to come across on screen to the casual fan. It'll just be a kickass fight in the middle of a kickass movie.
