Um who cares? The one posted before wasn't in hi-res. Most of us here like to have the hi-res photos instead of the low quality ones.

Thanks...I was beginning to think in a new TFN.net nightmare....

It wasn't posted in hi-res yet. Hasn't this conversation been had on the board somewhere already?

Excellent work again, Anakin2005!

Thanks ! and what's with that identical mark on the clonetrooper ? is it a sign or a cgi duplication mistake ?

Slight duplication-mistake, though other marks on the legs appear differently.

To Damon Hill :
It was made to be moving .. not to be taken as a standalone picture.. I bet that when it will be on screen it will be perfect..

The ILM animators go through Hell on each of these flicks (and that´s excluding the work on the OT SEs), and what do people focus on? "Oh that gunship in scene 57 looks totally fake! I´m sure WETA could do a much better job using real-life models! - Actually, that IS a model. - Well, WETA would have put more effort into it, HELL I would have put more effort into it, cus I´m a semi-professional modeller myself so I know what a good model looks like!!!!" :gb2tfn:

I know, it´s just after six years of nothing but bitching about CGI, while at the same time jerking off to conventional models like it´s the saviour of modern cinema (that some people like to do), it gets a bit tiring.

I don´t think anyone, audiences, animators, whoever, believes in "perfect, flawless effects". If anything, all the years of online debates have most likely made people more aware of the limitations of the different types of effects.

Of course this doesn´t excuse magical matching marks on trooper-armor or a less than photorealistic background, but at least consider focusing on the characters and the story, which can help elevate sub-par effects. I mean, noone wants to critizise effects in the OT, right? Because everything else weighs up for certain iffy scenes. Hopefully the same can be said for ROTS.

Damon Hill wrote:something isnt right about that picture at all.

When you look at it closely, especially at Obi-wans face, he looks EXTREMEMLY superimposed onto the background plate. His face is slightly blurred and muted, while the background and especially the Clonetrooper looks very sharp and crisp. The background looks like its a still from a video game.

And thats the exact same marking on both clontroopers chest armor.

And look at the clone trooper on the left behind Mace. The "box" on his belt right above Mace's shoulder is "touching" and overlapping the clonetroopers leg armor. Whereas the tropper on the right behind Obi-wan, his "box" on his belt isnt touching the leg armor, but the armor around his groindular area.

hmm, you got a point there.

but i'm sure it'll look better once we see the film itself. problem with analyzing stills with combined model/CGI/ live actors in hi-res is that you get to see all the flaws-- specially if the picture is about something set in motion.
