Isn't that Luke pic (and the one on the DVD) from a photo shoot done after ANH but before ESB, wearing his ANH garb? I remember someone mentioning this photo shoot when the DVD covers were first leaked. Can anyone shed some light on this?

That's pretty much the gist of it. Hamill had his car accident in early '77. There were some promo shots taken of Mark and Harrison Ford, probably also some other cast, at some point in 1977.

They're relatively easy to spot because Mark is wearing his ANH Luke costume but his face is as it is in ESB because of plastic surgery(as seen in Spoiler's comparison pic). Harrison is wearing his ANH Han costume but his hair is really short because he was filming The Guns of Navarone.

Hamill has very much a Anakin/Padme resemblance. Good casting.

I find more resemblance to ROTS Anakin and ROTJ Luke.

I confess, I still don't see much resemblance between Luke and Anakin. Anakin is all forehead, Luke is all chin. Fun comparison anyway, though.

The original shot actually has Luke holding the lightsaber from the Christmas special and not ANH.

It was photoshopped later with the saber that's currently at the Ranch which was actually one of the props from ESB. That's not even the ANH saber in his hands.

I believe that's the reason he looks weird holding the saber in that picture.

Actually, it's the way he's left over right, instead of right over left. If he held a bat like that, he'd need to be facing the opposite direction. At least that's what I saw wierd about it.

But, hey...either way it's eye candy for me.
