That sounds gruesome. What was Anakin doing on a droid?

That's brutal. PG-13 for sure with that bit alone.

Damn! I don't see why this movie wouldn't get an R rating! That's pretty disturbing imagery.

The new report: :heavymetal:

There were various Mustafar Droids of some sort in HyperSpace Insider 81 gallery. One of the captions refers to one Mustafar droid having to carry a large load.

Obi-Wan picks up Anakin's lightsaber. He lifts his own as well and weighs them in his hands. Anakin had based his design upon Obi-Wan's and thus they appear very similar.

I don't see Anakin's lightsaber looks like Obi-Wan's lightsaber ...

Could that be a mistake from the novel ?

Nevertheless Very great report !!

Thx ternian

Wow, two legs and a arm off in practicaly one slice, neato. :heavymetal:

I have to agree with Kamui, Anakin's saber doesent look anything like Obi-Wans.

Not one of those platforms then - they end up on actual droids at some point...

Cool - cheers, Tern.

By the way, if Return of the King, possibly the most violent movie ever made, didn't get an R-rating, neither will this. Unless Anakin's last words while he sinks into the lava are "fuck you obi-wan"

That's incredible, Ternian. Thanks for sharing that.

I hope Obi-Wan doesn't just leave Anakin to be slowly eaten away by lava. I can't imagine Kenobi just leaving someone to burn to death, especially the kid a helped raise, no matter how evil that person may be.

Well he obviously doesn't rescue him. And his whole point of going out there in the first place was to take him out.

On the contrary, I think he went to rescue him from himself. He's trying to bring him back to the light.

But judging from that report, it clearly becomes hopeless at some point.

I'm glad Obi-Wan actually defeats him, and they dont make it an accident with Anakin tripping on a rock and falling into the lava or something like that.

This proves once and for all that Anakin doesn't "slip on a banana skin". He might have been more powerful, but Obi-Wan outsmarted him. The "he is more machine than man" part is now also fully understandable. This scene seems amazing.

And guys don't be down...you might have read it but you didn't see it yet. LOTR is a book and everyone knew each detail, but it was still fun to watch it..so much for SW. Besides we already knew his hands and legs were going to be chopped off. (previous Tern spoiler)

I'm confused by the Anakin/Obi-Wan lightsaber part though...their lightsabers do look very different.

Obi-wan just watched Anakin on video killing a bunch of Jedi... his buddies. Then, in person, he apparently watches Anakin choke his pregnant wife (also somewhat of a friend of obi-wan's) to death. He loves Anakin like a brother or son, but he's also a little pissed off (for a stoic-ass jedi) and doesn't have much choice. Anakin is obviously out of his fucking gourd, and there aren't many options of how to deal with him.

EDIT: not to mention the fact that he's trying to get Luke to kill him in ROTJ. As far as Obi-wan is concerned, Anakin is already long gone. And its not like he's never mercilessly hacked up a Sith before in response to said Sith killing someone close to him.

Obi-Wan simply cutting Anakin's limbs off for revenge doesn't make sense and isn't in his character. That's why I'm also a bit confused about this scene.

The only possible way I could imagine Obi-Wan doing such is to save his own life. Then again, taking BOTH of his legs off an his only remaining arm just seems extreme a bit extreme to me.

I mean, it's not like he's playing Jedi Outcast or some shit...

Obi-Wan: Sweet...g_saberrealisticcombat activated. Come here Anakin.

Well...thinking about that last bit about the lightsabers:

In ROTJ, after Lukes defeats Vader he looks at his father's chopped hand and kinda emphatises with him - since Luke also has a missing hand - ,making him realise his own tap in the dark side and helping him come back to his senses.

In ROTS, we have Obi-Wan looking at his friend's lightsaber, realising it was built upon his own saber's design - and emphatising with his "brother" and perhaps feeling sorry for him. Perhaps even Obi-Wan tapped a little bit in the dark side when he found the strength to overcome Anakin and cut all those limbs off. With all probability, Obi-Wan tries to save him from his death: "Obi-Wan once thought as you do" (ROTJ). Yet Anakin rejects and says it is too late.

Obviously he doesn't just go in to shoot first and ask questions later, but deep down, he knows what he has to do. Especially after he sees what he does to Padme.

I completely understand your point, Vince, but a part of me just wants Obi-Wan to still forgive Anakin and try to save him. Obi-Wan never really did; even in the OT he was always urging Luke to kill Vader. After seeing exactly what Vader was capable of, he never felt it was possible to save him - perhaps for good reason. Maybe that makes Luke's hope for his father all the more remarkable.

But good god, man... Anakin was a treacherous murderer, but he was clean about it. It's a slow death, and he's going to have plenty of time to think about how he got to this point.

Now I think I completely understand how GL said Mustafar is Hell. All Anakin will have left is pain and regret.

EDIT: I think a number of you are right, in that at some point Obi-Wan simply gives up on Anakin. But at this point, Kenobi has cleary won - and you'd be surprised at what you'd agree to when you're on fire.

On the other hand, that might be an interesting twist. Obi-wan tries to save Anakin as he's sinking into the lava, disabled, but Anakin decides he'd rather take a swim than go back and face the consequences.

Do you guys even pay attention to spoilers? It's been clear for some time Obi-Wan tries to convince him to snapping out of it back in the conference room, then realizes he has no choice but to kill him. Remember Vader's line, "you can try."

It's not rocket science, Jesus.

Perhaps Obi-Wan is attacked by someone or something before he can save Anakin.

However, it seems likey that we may see an echo of Luke's suicide from TESB with Vader resisting any assistance.

Another thing, somewhat unrelated...

I like the idea that Obi-wan beats Anakin, and not the banana peel thing too. Anakin is the "chosen one", and has a lot of talent, but he's not so far ahead of Obi-wan that he can beat him with anything less than his A-game. I don't think this makes Anakin look weak, as much as it makes Obi-wan look strong.

He and Yoda are the only two to survive being attacked by their clones, so that says something about him too.

Anakins below the cliff, in burning sand by lava. How the hell can Obi-Wan get down there? Why would he risk his life just to finish the guy off?

And maybe Palpatine's shuttle does arrive as he's there, who knows.

But my suspicion is he leaves him to die, maybe as a volcano nearby erupts.

We're going to have to start getting used to the fact that Yoda and Obi make a decision to rid the galaxy of the Sith following their discoveries at the temple.

Obi is a man of duty, even where his "friend" is concerned.

I'm wondering if Obi thinks Ani is dead as he is picking up the saber, that he went straight in the lava?
Until Ani calls to him from the sandbank below...

He doesn't have to - ignite Anakin's lightsabre and use the Force to throw it and lance him. Clean death.

But you and the others are probably right - I don't (or don't want to) believe Obi-Wan maliciously leaves Anakin to his ignoble death - Kenobi likely has to make a quick exit.

In fact, you may be right about the volcano. All of Anakin's injuries have yet to be accounted for - his skull has not been fractured, nor his face and torso burnt. And none of his injuries would require a respirator to permanently accompany him.

That is unlikely. And if he does, it probably doesn't work. Why do you think he carries such a big lightsaber in ANH? Why do little guys drive expensive sports cars?

So I guess the cover of the Art of ROTS book is pretty accurate in terms of the location where the duel ends.

Would that be Jedi like to lance a guy? Come on, he leaves him for dead, the dialogue in the sticky Tern posted indicates that. He fights for self-defense, not to kill.

I don't suppose lancing him is any more or less Jedi like than lopping off his legs and arm and leaving him. But I still think my view of the situation might have been inaccurate - the picture posted above indicates that the fall is pretty long. I pictured Obi-Wan looking down, say, a fifteen-twenty foot drop and seeing Anakin land. The scale of the cliff wasn't really communicated in the report, so....

Besides, either way I bet Obi-Wan will have to make a break for it before he can contemplate his two lightsabres for too long.

Did you read Tern's dialogue in the sticky? He does the whole "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!" rant in the second part of this report.

Trust me, it's far more powerful if Obi-Wan leaves on his own accord.
