Weak. I was afraid it would be quip-kill-quip-kill etc. and here it is.

Thanks Tern. Heh, Vader has a nice sequence of evil (cool or cheesy depends on your taste) dialogue.

Some of these lines are getting a bit corny, but I love them nonetheless. :D

well. We know the dialogue here is over the top and cheezy, it's all up to Hayden and John Williams to make it work.

How will this be done on screen, I wonder. Will they just line up for him? Step right up and receive your semi-witty sound bite and lightsabre slash.

Wow. It's a good thing the Duel is coming up after this, because that is REALLY cheesy. I mean a couple of those are okay. But based on the reports that are coming out he uses a one-liner after every slash. I hope some of these will be edited out.

I dunno, those heavy SW scenes generally have some light banter over the top. It'd be a bit un-SW to not have them.

I don't know. I guess when I think of this scene I think of it as very fast paced (especially the way the trailer makes it look). I guess I just feel like all of this back and forth will slow down the massacre. I'm not really opposed to it, I'm just not sure I like every single separatist begging for their life and Vader to make a play on words to every single one of them. But that's cool though. As long as I get a 10 minute Duel, I don't care if Vader dances an Irish Jig after each slaying.

Completely LOVE it! :D

So is that all the massacre dialogue in order?
Or is there more from the other Separatists?

For Anakin/Vader to say `fuck` every second word so they can say `hey cool` ?

Well, to be sincere I am concerned that the movie doesn't slip on these quasi-gags. However they are of a different style than the "I truly, deeply love you" stuff, they're more on the lines of "you'll find I'm full of surprises" and "pray I don't change it further"..so they're pretty much OT.

As has been stated 100 times already, Tern is quoting from the novel, NOT from any form of script as far as I'm aware. The dialogue may not necesscarily be in the film as he's portraying, because of the "artistic licence" taken when writing a novelisation of the movie.

StarWars dialogue revolves around chessy scenario's and characters anyway, I don't know why people are suddenly waking up to this?!

It'll work...but it won't be as 'word-for-word' as Tern is posting.

This scene would be much better if Vader said nothing until after he killed Gunray. Too many one-liners turn it into something out of an Arnold/Sylvester movie. The less one says, the more impact his actions have.

The line he gives to Nute Gunray is kind of iffy. I 'll reserve judgement until I see it on screen. The rest of them are pretty Vader-esque though. That Vader always was a real wisenheimer......at any rate, I don't really care if they're cheesey or not. This movie will still rock. :chewbacca:

I agree. Have we forgotten how Darth made those quips in the OT?

Yeah this is news to me. I honestly can't remember any "witty" quips from Vader in the OT. Refresh my memory.

"I find your lack of faith disturbing"

"Appology accepted Captain Needa"

that's all that comes to mind...

I don't want this scene to go overboard. It would be great with maybe one witty remark, maybe two: one for the beginning and one for the end.

Adding to the list a bit, if I may:

"Perhaps you feel you're being treated unfairly?"

"We would be honored if you would join us..."

...etcetera.

Personally, I like these lines and I think, if conveyed correctly by Hayden, will add to the film greatly. :)

Also, assuming these lines are coming from the novelization, I don't think it'll all make it to film.

Vader dropped his cocky, semi-funny one-liners all throughout the original trilogy.

"I find your lack of faith disturbing"

"Apology accepted, captain"

"We would be pleased if you would join us"

Just about everything he says to Leia

If Hayden Christensen can get us to believe that he's Vader, then I think it will work great.

Best. Line. Ever. Although I can't imagine the masked version of Vader say it, the humour is in the same vein as previous Vader one-liners; dry as hell. Gotta love it. :heavymetal:

As far as I can remember at least 1/3 of Vader's OT dialogue is comprised of dry one-liners. It's always been part of the Vader character, in a slightly surreal-yet-satisfying way. I guess it's all just part of creating that classic adventure serial feeling that these films have; as we get closer to the OT in the prequels, the thicker and faster the one liners become.

I love the sound of this scene, a fitting end for Viceroy Gunray. Thanks Tern'

 Indeed!

People, take a look at the trailer again: between the "show no mercy" and "who could have done this" lines, you can see Vanakin slicing two separatists (leaders?) with one move. I guess the movie version actually will differ from the novelization.

I think people don't get how Vader's dialogue in the OT is every bit as dry and one-lineresque as these reported lines from ROTS because they memorized every line from the OT to the point of forgetting the irony and cheesyness of it all.

I think the cheesy one liners in the OT worked because of JEJ's delivery. IF HC can get that same kind of delivery, it could work as well as the one liners in the OT.

"Apology accepted, Captain Needa"

Vader has always been a smart ass. And Star Wars humour has always been camp. This is my FAVORITE dialogue I've read from this movie so far. I love it. And I love Lucas for having the guts to do the scene the way that amuses him even though he knows full well the reaction that the sheep will have. I mean, think of it.. you're doing a $200 million film, and you put something like that in.. and why? Well, because it amuses you, that's why. God bless this man.

$115 Million film ;)

Star Wars films are actually cheaper than a lot of the big budget stuff these days, like Spiderman, Troy, and Alexander.

And yay for the fact that the board are up again :heavymetal:

We just need to remembe than Vader is a bad son of a bitch. He'll make a joke and then cut you in half. We've got to beleive that he's totally fallen to the dark side, and what better way than to show him making 'jokes' as he's commiting atrocities. He doesn't even care that he's killing someone, he just tries to make the experience as entertaining as possible for himself, and as terrifiying as possible for his victims. PLUS, nothing makes a victim think he's in for it more than a pithy one-liner a la "We would be honored if you would join us"
