Ok people, tonight I put down $20 at GameStop to get the new ROTS-based Plug N Play video game from JAKKS.
There are 5 games included in this Darth Vader-shaped control pad:
Coruscant Attack - you fly a new Jedi Starfighter into battle over Coruscant, simulating the opening battle of the film.
Droid Invation - A Star Wars hybrid of Centipede and Tetris. You are Obi-Wan, and your task is to deflect blasted bolts back into the Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids and TF Tanks as the descend upon you. If a Battle Droid crosses the line where you are at the bottom of the screen, you die. You start off on Naboo, then progress to Geonosis and Mustafar.
Gunship Battle - Kinda like Defender. You fly a Republic Gunship and you have to pick up Clonetroopers in battle, fly them to various destinations safely while shooting down TF ships.
Utapau Chase - You are Obi-Wan riding the Boga in an upward scrolling game. You have to shoot opposing ships or swat them with your tail, while dodging obstacles. After a couple minutes, you run into a "boss" in the form of TF tanks on the sinkhole planet.
Grievous Onslaught - You are Anakin, swatting away pesky Battle Droids and SUper Battle Droids on the Invisible Hand. Your task is to take down Battle Droids with your lightsaber until you can rescue Palpatine from MagnaGuards.
In terms of graphics, this game is somewhere inbetween SNES and PS1, which isn't all bad, considering there are 5 games contained in one controller. The controller is about as bulky as the X-Box controller. You only have the D-pad and A and B buttons to work with. You can save high scores within the game as well.
Overall, it's a simple, but fun collection of games with high replay value. It will be a good way for me to bide my time for the long week ahead until April 2! For $20, this is a solid buy.
