That would be just horrible if someone were to buy the Adobe version and accidently upload it to some high-capacity webserver. Very horrible indeed.

It'd be quite the shame if, by tomorrow, no one breaks the PDF encryption. Otherwise, I'd just have to transcribe the whole thing in my boredom to Final Draft :)

That program above would do the trick, also it's 110 pages.

Just flipping ahead...

The illustrated screenplay includes two versions of the crawl -- the first draft (April 13, 2003) and the fourth draft (June 26, 2003), which is the version that StarWars.com revealed awhile back. Anyway, here's the interesting original version...

War! General Grievous, commander
of the separatist armies, has
attacked Coruscant, the capital of
the Republic, and has been driven
back by the Jedi Commanders and
their army of clones.

Evil is everywhere. There are
heroes on both sides. Separatist
commandos have kidnapped
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine,
leader of the Galactic Senate.

In the midst of the battle, two Jedi
have discovered the starship where
Chancellor Palpatine is being held
captive and are attempting a
rescue....

We'll get the screenshots. The script itself -- there's some genuinely great comedy here, and Anakin and Obi-Wan haven't even reached Count Dooku.

Am I a moron for laughing my ass off during Artoo's escapades on the Trade Federation cruiser?

A slight concern, though... this is jumping around quite a bit. Anakin's dream/telling Padme, immediately to talking to Yoda, immediately to talking to Obi-Wan, immediately talking to Palpatine... there's not much in the way of transition, and it feels a little like "A Slow Day for Anakin Skywalker."

Quite a bit of Kashyyyk stuff in there too making it even harder to believe those rumors of the sequence being only 30 seconds. I hope not, it sounds exciting. Grievous also didn't kill one of the Neimodians on the bridge like in the novel. I was kinda hoping he'd axe somebody even if it wasn't a Jedi.

It seems like we may see more than a glimpse of the Temple raid as well. It mentions Clones surrounding and blasting a Jedi, Anakin kills Shaak Ti in her quarters and then confronts the Younglings who think he's there to help. He ignites his saber then the scene cuts away.

Anyone notice how far away Grievous' breastplates are from eachother in the picture where he's holding an electrostaff in the air? Looks like he's opening up or something... or maybe that's just the way it looks when he stretches his arms up.

Hey POTA,
Are you on a Mac or PC?
If you're on a Mac run the PDF through
GhostView before you post:

http://www.kiffe.com/tex/programs/macgh ... 32.sit.bin

It should kill all the security on the file.

As far as the PC I know there are utilities out there that do the same.

Thanks for the effort!

Can't get to the book store or buy the damn thing online, because I lent my car and my debit card to my brother for his spring break. I can't dive the shitmobile he left at my place because I have a broken foot. Woe is me... Don't worry, the bro paid me the cash he was going to use already, it's just that where he's going a card is easier and he's only a wee tyke. I can't believe someone hasn't transcribed this thing by now...

Medical Droid: Medically, she is completely healthy. For reasons we can't explain, we are losing her.

Obi-Wan: She's dying?

Medical Droid: We don't know why. She has lost the will to live. We need to operate quickly if we are to save the babies.

OK, according to the screenplay, Yoda just owns the fuck out of Sidious. I love it.

This shows once and for all who is more powerful.

Yeah, Sidious is trying to flee for most of the fight. Yoda's the one uttering one-liners, on the constant offensive. He kicks Palpatine's ass.

Yoda only loses because he loses his balance deflecting Palpatine's lightning.

So in other words, Palpatine gets owned in both fights he has in the movie.

He's basically Nute Gunray with force powers. :|

I love how Sidious tells Yoda that Vader will ultimately become stronger than both of them. Nice to see what he originally had in mind for his new apprentice, before he was crippled by that meddling Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I think the fact that Sideous is basically beaten by both Mace and Yoda and lucks out both times makes Anakin's choice much more tragic. I've seen other certain people adamantly argue on TFN (yeah yeah I know) that Sideous is in control of everything and knows he will not fail. If that were true it would make Anakin's turn inconsequential because the emperor would have succeeded either way.

Or maybe I'm just overthinking things. :whateva:

How much is left of the movie's beginning? I got the novel today and the first third of it deals with the events on the Invisible Hand. Is all that shifting gravity stuff in the screenplay?

Actually, I think Yoda and Sidious is evenly matched, far more than what the screenplay is indicating, mainly because every shot of this fight we have, be it from the trailer or from trading cards, shows Sidious laughing like a kid in a candy store.

I'm actually really dissapointed with this script. I'm probably going against popular opinion by saying so, but the dialogue really, really blows. Hard. Also, the whole tone of it is just a lot different that I thought it'd be. A simple PG rating would not surprise me at all. Perhaps I just think it's bad because I'm reading the novel. In the novel Obi-Wan and Anakin's freindship is really well developed with some great, natural dialogue. Also, Grievous actually had character. His exchnage with Nute after landing on Utapau was fantastic! The poor guy has next to no character in the screenplay. No wonder some people hate him. Also, in the novel, the Padme/Anakin scenes were, astonishingly, some of my favorite. This screenplay is just like Episode I and II. I thought this would be different. Anyway, all of this is just, like, you know, my opinion man. Maybe the film version will be good.

[List of deleted scenes removed]

I think my original interpretation of the deleted scenes is all wrong. The Making Of book is like a diary, with later entries overruling earlier ones. I'm going to finish reading the whole book.

I'm afraid I have to agree; especially after reading the novel and the "Making of" book, I think the script is shockingly weak. The emotional dialogue in the novel, expecially during the Vader/Obi-Wan duel, seems to have been embellished from the script. The script dialogue seems bland and unengaging. What gives me hope is that, at least judging from the "Making of Episode III" book, the script is only an outline and the dialogue is improvised often.

Otherwise, for the first time, I worried about Episode III.

Just my thoughts.

In regards to the cuts reported by Darth_Zidious: Fucking bullshit! Some of the cuts are decent, yes, but cutting some of that stuff is amazingly stupid. Especially the cuts involving Obi-Wan's vist to Padme, and Anakin discussing it with her later. That's good stuff. Also, the stuff on the Invisible Hand is good, fun stuff. Also, the audience may wonder where the fuck Obi-Wan gets Boga. Sweet shit Lucas is a retard. Anyway, just my opinion. I really don't want to get into any fights.
