Well if you look at the promo materials, they're using characters from both trilogies:

Luke Skywalker
Leia Skywalker
Darth Vader
Anakin Skywalker
Padme Skywalker
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Stormtrooper
Boba Fett
Emperor Palpatine
R2-D2
C-3P0
Chewbacca
Han Solo

This is actually one of 2 cars that will be using the M&Ms/Star Wars setup. This one is for driver Elliot Sadler, the other, for driver Dale Jarrett (Sadler's teammate and normally driver for the UPS car) has yet to be revealed. Sadler's car will be Sith/evil themed, while Jarrett's will be Jedi/good themed.

As a person from the South, I must stand up to this blatant shitting on of a great sport---wait, no I don't. I hate the sport, carry on...

I guess GL is trying to reach yet another demographic...but this one needs to learn how to read the ads in order to understand what they are trying to sell. That's always made me wonder about the entire point of NASCAR advertisements...

Star Wars is doing a promotional push with Masterfoods, Inc. (Skittles, M&Ms, Kudos), who sponsor the #38. This isn't a Lucas decision, it's a Masterfoods decision.

As far as you, mcd, have you ever tried driving a car equipped with slicks at 200 miles an hour? I didn't think so, and I have. It's harder than you think.

Besides, most drivers today come from places like Indiana, Illinois and California. I guess that means the NORTHERNERS are now the rednecks, eh?

No, but I've done motorcycle road racing. There's a lot more going on there than left turns. NASCAR is some pretty sorry ass "racing".

It's self defeating to get worked up over sports, news, movies, etc. that you dont like.

If no one cared about nascar it'd go the way of the XFL and Roller Derby.

I dont care much for nascar, but it's no more in your face than golf.

I don't mind NASCAR. What I mind is the crazy news and media blitz foisted upon the rest of us, basically shoving it into our face way more than it should be. I don't know who decided, or when they decided it, that NASCAR needed to be in our lives more than it already was, but goddamn them to hell for it. Same thing happened with Hockey, at least until Hockey had the decency to fuck itself over.

As a general sports fan who considers NASCAR a waste of airtime on sportscenter, your views intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. I never understood why NASCAR of all events became "the next big thing" in sports. Did some marketing department somewhere find out some secret information that tied NASCAR fans to willingness to overspend on things they don't need thanks to product placement or something? :chewbacca: I never tried the chewbacca thing before but I thought I would.

It comes down to this, Nascar is one of last major money making sports where a nobody can come out of nowhere to win it all. People like that kind of stuff. It gives all those lame losers who never finished highschool & furthered their education a dream to have. I mean theres no racing scholarships from any colleges that I know of.

I mean most of the guys who watch have some sort of old car or raised truck that they work on constantly trying to make it faster or better some how. It's what they do & some times all they want to do. I love cars too, shit I had a '63 Chevy Nova. But I decided that I want to further myself by getting an education. So maybe when I'm older I will have an old car to tinker on, but for now a new car will suffice.

In the end, even drunk I rather watch wrestling or canadian melodrama like Degrassi before I'd watch a bunch of guys drive around in a big circle real fast.

The typical Nascar fan can't even SPELL Star Trek. BTW I see way too many fans down here. Sad thing is, there are just as many in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Back to quasi-on-topic, the only reason anything Star Wars is on any stock car is the incredible t.v. exposure. It just plain couldn't work with any other sport. Although golf balls painted to look like little Death Stars would be really cool :chewbacca:
