Three new trailers for the ROTS video game

Postby ManaByte » April 14th 2005 2:07 am

These are likely TV commercials. New footage including footage of Obi-Wan and Yoda fighting Clone Troopers in the ruined temple and a shot of the playable suited Vader from the versus mode:

The game will likely turn out very well. It's being done by The Collective who did the Buffy game and the last Indiana Jones game. This is also apparently the first Star Wars game that is the direct result of an idea from Lucas. It's his "ultimate Jedi simulator".

That's an odd tag line.

How about "See the movie, then live it..."

Yup, the Collective are a great developer team.

The indy game was quite good so i have a lot of faith in them to for once NOT fucked up a SW game.

Too bad it's not being released to the PC at the same time.

I hate the controllers those game systems use. Nothing beats the control a keyboard and mouse give you. :heavymetal:

Has any wmv. links been posted anywhere? .mov files don't work for Quicktime on my computer

^ I agree, keyboard control is way more precise, but I still prefer a PS2 controller.

Keys and mouse are great for adventure, rpgs and FPS's but it seems the lightsaber action will be more fun with a game controller.

Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy worked great with the lightsaber combat, so I dont see that as an issue.

They'll probably wind up releasing ROTS on PC three or four months later like KOTOR and KOTOR 2.

Flawless. Anyone know the name of the song in the "test z" one? Or was it just composed for this one commercial.

lets just hope the gameplay is as smooth as the videos and not some horrendous choppy malfunctioning nightmare.

Ahem*knightsoftheoldrepublic*Ahem

Yea, im kinda worried about the ps2 rendition of it. It really sucks when it comes to frame rate.

That's not true about this being the first game that came from Lucas. He was heavily involved in the Phantom Menace game for PC and PS. He was responsible for it's PS delay because the product was not up to his standards. Hehe, maybe he should have delayed it a little longer.

There's a table Vader shot, and a teaser Sith eyes shot.

Worth noting: In "X", you can hear the Emperor saying "You're fulfilling your destiny"

They're all pretty cool, see some kickass Jedi moves. Anakin does a huge jump, like a few hundred yards... nifty.

it does kinda look like obi-wan is taking off anakins arm there...but its hard to tell.

for me, i'm not much a fan of the pc gaming. my wrist gets really sore after a hour or so playing a game. plus, its hard to get comfortable (since this chair sucks, the keyboard has an incredibly short cord, so i can't move it anywhere)

i'd much rather kick back on the futon & play xbox with the wireless controller on the 43" HD widescreen tv. :)

The size of the levels don't seem to be too big, most of them are on small ramps or indoors etc., so I expect a very smooth framrate.

*Ahem* Jedi Knight
*Ahem* Masters of Teras Kasi
*Ahem* Rogue Leader

*Ahem* Rogue Leader was exactly the one I refered to. I don't think Vader was in any of the Jedi Knight games, except as a fan-made mod. Masters had a pitty good likeness though, but still very blocky by today's standards.

Did anybody else notice the shot of Anakin fighting Cin Drallig, Nick Gillard's character. I'd read he was in the game, but I can't recall seeing him in a shot before now.

more updates from IGN. the most notable

23 sequences of EP3 film (for a total of 12 minutes) introduce and close all of these levels of destruction. They also immediately segue in and out of actual gameplay, creating a more seamless cut. But, a few CG sequences are sometimes employed to smooth out the transitions.

sounds very promising, like the LOTR games that blended movie scenes right into gameplay.

so by may 5th, there will be yet another task for MF to do, bring these clips to the masses.

btw, i don't really like the idea of the the voices from the clone wars cartoon. i can get around it, but considering hayden came down & laid out the groundwork for his character & did bluescreen tests, etc, he probably could have lent his voice.
