Yoda full of mud from the Art Book

Postby NeV » April 18th 2005 9:57 pm

I was looking at my Art of Revenge of the Sith Book.
Not sure if everyone caught this in the Art of Revenge book, but there is a pic of Yoda with mud and grass and stuff all over him on Kashyyyk I assume. I do not know how to post a pic so if some one PMs me with their AIM tag or email I can send it if someone will post it.

I just am really curious how that will play out... but most importantly I enjoy the artwork.

Sorry if I misses a previous post about this already... My bad if it is a dead horse.

I'm not sure, wasn't that scene cut?

Yes, the scene was cut. Quite a lot of the Kashyyyk stuff has been cut, I believe.

Oh thanks everyone... kind of a moot point now I guess. At least I got to actually facilitate a conversation.

Here's a hi-res scan with the ajoining picture and caption. There's a bunch of 'Art of' scans in a thread in the file-sharing forum.

This scene is in the script, and I haven't heard definitively from anywhere that it has been cut.

EDIT: Actually, it says it's been cut in the 'Making of' book dated March 2003:

But then it's still in the script in 2005? If it's in the script I would say it got put back in.

The Making of book was the source that stated it had been cut. Although it's been mentioned before, there are some inconsistancies in that book so who knows if it's in the movie still or not.

I hope it is. It sounded like a funny little scene with Yoda doing his crazy shtick from ESB.

I love the scene in ESB, but I don't like the idea that Yoda pulled this kind of stuff also as a battle tactic. Especially right after the Jedi massacre it doesn't seem to be appropriate for him to be in such a mood for silliness.

He doesn't know about the temple massacre at this point. and yoda uses unconventional wisdom instead of sheer battle strength due to his size, I think this fits well with his chasrcter but certainly isn't central or necessary to the story

I wonder at which point in production the scene got cut. I've seen pics of the animatics for this scene. If the scene was finished I'd be interested in seeing it on the DVD cutscenes.

Seems like the scene would be pretty cool to see, atleast on it's own, if not in the context of the movie.

That pic reminds me of The Land Before Time where the fat dinosaur gets doused in mud. Hey George worked on that movie!
