Does Anakin make Vader from the Original Tilogy look a bit crap now

Reckon im fooking doomed even going here, but what the hell :chewbacca:

Looking at all this super-dooper footage and the images of Anakin after he's gone all Angst Man on us and turned to the Dark Side has in some ways taken the edge right off the image of Vader from the OT being a right old nasty bit of work.

I mean, Anakin just looks plain evil in some of this stuff, and some of the shenanigans he gets upto is right out of order, worse than Vader managed in the OT .

Apart from doing his missus in, wading into all and Jedi sundry, giving the Seperatist bunch a right good arse whupping and then going for Obi Wan, he just looks plain evil with them eyes and that wildman mullet haircut.

Vader really didnt do much apart from top the odd Imperial Officer here and there, do over the 'willing' old man Kenobi, chop his sons hand off, get in on a bit of Corellian torture and shake his fist about a few times looking menacing. Anything I missed? Prior to all this he was the real bad guy but to me it's taken the edge right off of that.

Not withstanding he's an old fart with no legs, a bucket on his head and one arm, whaddya think?

I'm tending to disagree with you here...
You see, he does these evil things, and probably keeps doing 'em after the suit...he gains a rep for being the baddest MOFO out there....his rep precedes him, so he only HAS to force choke some officers once in a while and everyone remembers he's the badass that killed EVERYONE.

Vader was much older in the OT ... I guess he lost some steam.

Nah...who would oppose him? He took care of EVERYONE early on. Nothing else to do than the occassional choking or menacing fist shake and I guarantee most in the Imperial Navy wet themselves or worse.

Now reach in that bag & pull out my wallet

Which one is it?

It's the one that says "Bad MuthaFucka" on it.

The guy slaughters men, women & children before he's 20 yrs old. Thats just his starting point. Think of all the people who did try & oppose him throughout the years. I'm sure they died painfully.

Yeah, cheers for that. :whateva:

I dunno, maybe it's because you can see the emotions in his face rather than a mask, and in this film you see him change from good to bad.

Not that I'm aiming to go down some shitty ' where's the continuity ' avenue with this, but you can't argue that he does far worse in this film than Vader does.

I do agree though that it's a fair shout to say that the officers filling their pants when he's around means he's still a bad mofo, but it's just a comparison between what they both get upto on screen

First off, glad someone else mentioned this - because watching Episode III, I couldn't help but think about how bad he was at the start and what a step down it was to the Vader in Eps IV to VI...

Never mind all this, "Everyone knows he's a bad ass and he has nothing to prove" lark - full of the darkside, bad mo fo and totally bionic, he still can't take out a broken down old man (and didn't Obi Wan age badly between Eps III and IV?) and struggles to kick the ass of a semi-trained lad in Ep V.

PLUS - he's clearly working as Moff Tarkin's heavy in Ep IV, Tarkin orders him around... Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mr I'm The Baddest Bad Mo Fo in the Universe would have ripped Tarkin's head off rather than take report to him. So how does the 2nd most powerful being in the Universe end up taking orders from a broken down old Hammer films star in slippers?

Exactly, I hate the tinkering Lucas has done after the completion of the movies, but I'd love it if he went back and re-shot (CGI, stand-ins, whatever) the Vader-Obi Wan 'rematch'. Have the old buggers fight the same way they did in Ep III. Seeing an old Obi Wan still able kick ass would just emphasise the nature of his 'surrender' at the end - and his subsequent 'bitch slicing'...
