Lucas on The OC

Postby umassfan » April 26th 2005 7:29 pm

This time Lucas may have gone too far:

Lucas to Guest-Star on "The O.C."
April 25, 2005

George Lucas will guest-star as himself on "The O.C." on Thursday, May 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
During the episode, Summer makes Zach and Seth decide which one of them is going to take her to Harbor High's "The O.Sea" prom. But, after George Lucas expresses interest in Seth's graphic novel, Seth is forced to make the most difficult decision of his life -- take Summer to the prom or have dinner with George Lucas.

aaxlon- the OS is the source. EDIT: beat me to it...

Am I the only one tiring of the OC trying to cater to the wrong demographic? My sixteen year old sister loves that shit... I think folks around here could care less. But this cross-promotion with ROTS is driving me nuts.

I agree with netsolo. It really sounds like they either have the wrong marketing people for this show or they really think that Lucas has enough draw to get Star Wars fans to watch...something I certainly hope isn't true (unless Darth Sidious shows up and lightnings everyone's ass...now that I would watch The OC for) :heavymetal:

Forget that, just get the girls naked and I'm sure 90 percent of us would tune in.

I think they figure by having their Seth character feigning being a sheep that we're all religious followers of the OC...

Not so difficult. Summer's a slutbag, I'd have dinner with George Lucas.

Hey you never know...maybe Lucas will put out too and he'll have the best of both worlds! :o

I agree with netsolo and Lord Bacon. What would be the sales pitch? "Because your trailer did so well, come on our show!?" What's the incentive for Lucas? Maybe I'm wrong but most people that watched the OC stay very far way from Star Wars. We're on opposite ends of the spectrum- diet sugar free caffeine free Pepsi vs. Turkish black coffee.

 Christ, how exactly did he go too far. In addition to raping your child hood did he also rape your adulthood by appearing on your favorite show the O.C. ?

As I recall this isn't the first time Lucas has played himself on tv. I remember him doing a cameo on "Just Shoot Me" a couple years a go.

That makes sense. In theinterview with GL at C3, he kind of indicates that people should get on with their lives after Star Wars, don't let it be your life.

"A fan asked what Lucas thought of the passionate fans who have devoted so much of their lives to the Star Wars experience. "I'm very grateful to you all," he said. "I've been very surprised. Star Wars is something to enjoy and take away what you can from it that maybe helps you in your lives. Don't let it take over your lives. That's what they all say about Trekkies, and I know Star Wars fans don't do that. The point of the movies is to get on with your lives, to take that challenge, to leave your uncle's moisture farm, to go out in the world and change it to save the universe."

Maybe he'll convey a similiar message to young Seth. Like I give a rip. I hate that dumb show.

Gotta count me out there, i'm an OC fan, for me this is a bonding of one of my fav TV shows, and the Greatest Film Series i've ever seen, It's like the boyfriend and the girlfriend's father getting along perfectly, there are certainly rare [and proud] exceptions ;-)

Not wanting to debate whether OC is decent or terrible, just voicing the exceptions =)

Though from what i've seen seems you're right on the "most OC fans staying away from SW" and Vice-Versa =)

I can see it now in the episode

SETH : George, I...

GEORGE LUCAS : Call me "Mr. Lucas", son I dont know you that well and plus I am your god, continue...

SETH : Mr. Lucas , sir... what should I do..I wanna take that hot slut summer to the prom..but yet... I have to have dinner with you in order to secure my future... oh god..

GEORGE LUCAS : Its Oh, Lucas, get it right !

SETH : Oh, Lucas...what should I do

GEORGE LUCAS : It just so happens that I have the answer to your prayers, have that chick Winter..

SETH : her name is Summer, sir...

GEORGE LUCAS : Who gives a fuck! listen, have that chick come over to my house, The Skywalker Ranch at 12:30am... Leave her to me, I will deal with her myself.

SETH : As you wish my lord, but if Im not takin her to the prom and Im not havin dinner with you tonight...what would be my reward?

GEORGE LUCAS : What are you babbling about?, you already received your reward. you met your god, George Lucas! and assured your place in the Jedi afterlife with Qui-Gon, Ben and Yoda! so rejoice young padawan and get your tickets for the movie.... I heard its gonna be the shyt! (wink )

That Mischa chick needs to eat some meat, ASAP. Rib cages are not hot, man.

My boycott of the OC might have to end just out of curiosity. Although, if Fox cancels Arrested Development I'm boycotting all of Fox, including Simpsons.

Or, he could take Lucas to prom. :monocle:

Seriously though, considering Seth and the other guy apparently argue over who takes the chick to prom, it obviously isn't as if they're deeply in love and need to share "the best moment of high school blah blah blah shit" together (I've never actually watched the show so I could be wrong).

I may watch it just to see how it turns out, even though I know that it's just a ploy by Fox to get higher ratings, just as with the trailer.

And sadly, one of my friends from school looks just like Seth.
