So there was nothing good aside from this clip, no interesting discussions with Hayden?

Not really. His childhood dog is creamated on his (parent's) mantle. He would cancel the Bachelor if he could cancel any show on TV. He loves to listen to Eminem. And he calls his mommy 3 to 4 times a week.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice the weird editing that occurred right before Anakin and Obi-Wan did the saber twirl thing? For a minute they were in two different positions from where they started and then the switched back when they locked sabers. Maybe it was just a diff camera angle or maybe it was just me.

Yeah that messed me up as well. Check the bodies on the floor and it is just a really bad camera angle switch. Problem is that you spend several shots used to Obi-Wan on one side of the camera and suddenly we pull away and he is on the other side. But if you look at the bodies on the floor they are in the same place, just a really weird angle-change.
spielberg wrote:I disagree. The reason the shot looks the way it does is because Anakin has shape-shifting abilities. He is able to harness the inner powers of his midichlorians and liquify his bone structure. Naturally, after he dons the vader suit, he is unable to use these abilities because he's part machine.

Look again. The bodies on the floor are behind Anakin, and they remain behind Anakin after the angle change.

I really hate this show, but my dumb ass will be tuned in.

It's a different shot/angle. Watch it again. For the beginning of it, Anakin is on the left and Obi-wan is on the right, then right before the twirling, Obi-wan is on the left and Anakin on the right, then when they meet lightsabers, it switches back.

MTV doesn't show quality entertainment anymore. Haven't for years.

Yeah, I remember that camera angle switch disorienting me when I first saw it on the 60 minutes segement. I had to watch it a few times to see what happend. I'm no film student but doesn't that camera move break the 180 degree rule where the camera is not supposed to move beyond the half circle established in a single shot?
MasterWiYa wrote:It's fine, yes, and I think most people will miss it, but there is a switch of perspectives and that can be disorienting. But I'm not a film critic either, I just pay to watch them and enjoy them.
Neither am I. And I enjoy the film very much... too much in fact, considering this is the first time I have done anything remotely close to complain about anything in it. The shot is fine, but I can see some people thinking "Haha! I caught a BLOOPER!" and being wrong because the shot is a rapid change in perspective.
It is probably also accentuated by the shortness of the clip. In the context of the whole duel it will not be noticed.
EDIT: Took another look at it, it really isn't bad at all. But, as happened to some people, I see how it could be confusing. The rapid cutting of angles makes it work.
