First trailers - Domestic and International flavors:

:heavymetal: I dig it. And that Mysterio suit in all its cheesy, fishbowl helmet glory, YES!

Trailer #2:

Looking good! So it appears that the multiverse concept will be playing a role in the next chapter of the MCU as Mysterio claims he and the Elemental creatures are from an alternate reality. This definitely opens up many possibilities. This could present an easier means of introducing characters such as the X-Men and FF into the MCU if they were already established teams from other realities thereby circumventing the need for rehashed/rebooted origin films. We'll have to wait and see for sure considering Mysterio is a master of illusion and could be spinning the multiverse angle to deceive Nick Fury and SM. So far Mysterio has been presented as a do-gooder in the trailers and after Marvel swerved expectations with the Skrulls making them sympathetic instead of villainous in Captain Marvel, it wouldn't surprise me if they made Mysterio an actual good guy but I'm still betting he'll turn out to be the villain by the end. :spiderman:

The 6-note Spider-Man musical cue at the end of the trailer just makes me smile.

Wonderfully executed film from beginning to end. The goofy rom-com stuff is deftly goofy and "rom-comy." The suffering reluctant-hero trope is handled skillfully and sympathetically.

Mysterio's treatment exceeded my expectations in every way. Watts even nails the obligatory psychedelic reality-shifting sequences that come packaged with the character.

Overall, Holland sets the perfect tone for the film with his combination of earnestness, vulnerability, and intensity. Gyllenhaal and rest of the cast are all-around solid.

Sam Jackson's performance did seem a bit off to me. But, there's an explanation for that.

I enjoyed it! It's a fun action packed film.

I really liked Mysterio too, I thought he was handled really well. Obviously if you were even remotely familiar with the comics, his heel turn wasn't exactly a surprise. I'd be curious to know if the casual audience were more swerved by it. One nitpick I had regarding his backstory was him being yet another disgruntled ex-employee of Tony Stark's. There's already been so many connections that link back to something Tony did in his past not to mention that the Vulture's motivations were also set into motion because of Tony's actions in Homecoming.

Another thing that was a bit of a letdown was that the existence of the MCU Multiverse didn't actually come to fruition. Granted, we knew as early as the second trailer there was a good chance of it being BS since Mysterio was the source claiming to be from another reality. Despite evidence to the contrary I was still holding out hope that there might have been more to it than just a phoney origin story made up by Mysterio.

Well with "The Multiverse of Madness" newly announced as the title for Doctor Strange 2, it appears I can disregard this complaint! :yay:

A few spoiler related thoughts:
It's a shame Mysterio was killed off at the end (or was he?). If he did survive the Sinister Six would have four of its potential members already introduced after two films (Vulture, Shocker, Scorpion & Mysterio)!

J.K. Simmons reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson in the MCU was an awesome and most welcome surprise!

The post credits scene was seemingly played for a laugh but it raises some big questions. Just when exactly did Fury go to space, why is he there and how long has he been there? Was that actually him who got dusted at the end of IW or was it Talos masquerading as Fury? Was that really Fury at Tony's funeral? Curious indeed. EDIT: Director Jon Watts cleared this question up in one of his post movie press interviews. The real Nick Fury was at Tony's funeral not a Skrull so Fury's trek into space happens sometime soon after Endgame.
