Fallen kingdom indeed. Dreadful film.
- Treated as a very un-Jurassic-Park-like Chris Pratt mano-a-mano action vehicle
- Major plot turns are broadcasted in all the advertising and the film leaves little else to surprise
- Indo-something again
- Bayona is touted as some master of suspense horror but those qualities are few and far between throughout the film
- Ending set pieces are murkily shot and wholly conventional
- Central child character has far less of the much-needed moxy and grit that past child characters in the series have had
- Dinosaurs are front and center so often that their expensive CG patina becomes distracting
- Goldblum, the franchise's most hallowed asset, is here in short and unremarkable supply
- Basic dramatic situation is left unresolved except as an invitation to see Jurassic World 3
My interest in this franchise is down the tubes. I try not to dwell on negative experiences too much but I thought I'd try to collect the main reasons for this disappointing and frustrating time at the theater as a thought exercise. I recently wrote about vitriol being easier than fair consideration so I thought I'd put a bit of that into practice.
